More Info
Bike to Berlin premiered in 2010 with 37 cyclists tackling the 550 mile route over 8 days to reach Berlin by pedal power alone. Each year the event raises money for a different charity, and in 2010, over £11,000 was donated to Parkinson’s UK.
The event enables you to test yourself to your limits and cycle all the way from Leeds to Berlin. The route takes you to Hull where you take an overnight ferry to arrive in Rotterdam to start the next two days cycling across the Netherlands before crossing the border into Germany. Once in Germany, you will spend the next five days cycling East towards Berlin to arrive at the Brandenburg Gate.
Over the year, group socials and training rides will prepare you for the challenge and providing you know how to ride a bike, and have the determination, you will be able to achieve this challenge. Each day is between 60 and 70 miles, and group moral will help push you up the hardest hills. To try and make the challenge as comfortable as possible, a van team will accompany the group carrying all the luggage each day, food and tents. Accommodation is a mix of tents and hostels and each night the van team will greet you into camp with your tents set up and dinner on the go.If you would like more information, please get in touch by dropping into the RAG Office, Level 2, Leeds University Union, emailing us at: leedsragbiketoberlin@hotmail.co.uk, tweeting us @LeedsRAG or by finding us on Facebook.
