About Us

Our Mission Statement:
‘Leeds RAG (Raise and Give) fundraises for a wide variety of local, national and international charitable causes. This is realised through fun student led events, which provide valuable experiences and useful, transferable skills.’

Who we are

Leeds RAG is a society run by students for students and also happens to be the oldest, and one of the biggest LUU societies. We originally gave out old clothes to the poor, which is where the word ‘rag’ comes from (or from the slogan ‘Raise and Give’ – depends who you ask!).

RAG is a volunteer organisation that relies on the generosity and hard work of students to function. But that isn’t to say that student volunteers don’t get anything out of RAG. Many valuable skills can be acquired through participation in RAG and employers love to see RAG on job applicants CV’s!

What we do

Every week is RAG week here at Leeds and there’s always an exciting fundraising event going on raising money for one of the local, national and international charities that we support. You can hitch hike across Europe, jump out of a plane or help organise the famous RAG Fashion Show among many other things. There is also a selection of international projects that take place in the summer but places are limited so get in there early. Check out the Events, Projects and Raids sections to see the range of events we have already planned for this year.

On top of all the exciting events we already have planned, RAG is always eager to help students develop new projects and events, and has the resources to help you do it. So..if you have an idea for a fundraising event we want to hear about it! Whatever it is, if it’s a good fundraising idea we can help you put it on. So send us an email at rag@luu.leeds.ac.uk or K.A.Jones@leeds.ac.uk, call our Coordinator on 0113 380 1327 or come and see us in the RAG office (in the Arc which is on the top floor of the Union building).
